How are the four horsemen doing? I wrote a very popular blog post a few years ago about buying property in Spain on the Spanish Property Net page. Entitled “The Four Horsemen Of The Spanish Property Apocolypse” it told you about how to find bargains in the Spanish market asContinue reading

The Four Horsemen Post… From the Spanish Property Network
We posted a very popular post on the Spanish Property Blog last week.Titled “The Four Horsemen of the Spanish Property Apocalypse”. Within it we explained how to get a bargain in Spain without going to a bank for their rather badly located properties. Take a look and if you have any questions just ask.
When you are looking for a property as a buyer you are obviously looking for a bargain that suits your requirements. Those requirements will be exclusive to you, ie different from anyone else, but you can almost guarantee that the property you buy will have many of the characteristics that others are searching for too (This is why we said that there are not actually that many properties really for sale in Spain here) One thing that you are looking for though is summed up in the Spanish Property search mantra “Bueno, Bonito y Barato” (Good, pretty and cheap)
Putting Together A Portfolio For Residency In Spain
If you are from outside the EU you now have the possibility of getting residency in Spain at a cost of anything over 500,000 Euros, the minimum spend required, mortgage free, in order to apply for residency which will be granted automatically. Over on the Spanish Residency Site we have detailed the requirements for getting residency if you are not an EU citizen and you can see that post here.
Spanish Property Market Report 2013
As we are into December I thought it was time to let you know about how the Spanish Property Market has gone in 2013. Obviously this is biased towards the Valencia region with my main catchment area being there through Valencia Property but also with the new project The Spanish Property Network we also have trends and tendencies from the rest of Spain to look at.
Increased Purchase Tax On Spanish Property and Idiot Politicians
My head is hurting today. It has been for two days to tell the truth. It’s not hurting because I have a headache it’s been hurting because I have spent the last two days banging my head against a brick wall not believing how stupid the Valencian government has been. (What? I hear you ask. A government being stupid!! Never)
What Property Would I Buy In Spain?
I am often asked by clients what type of property i would buy. Well the answer is very simple really, the one I live in!. However that is because it suits my lifestyle.
Lifestyle is the big issue. If my situation were different then I would have a different answer of course. Listen to the audio below as I explain the background to why I chose the property I did.
Spanish Property in 2013 – What To Expect
2013 in Spanish Property was an article originally featured in the Spanish Property Magazine for iPad, get your copy at the link. I thought it was relevant for here though. Here is what you should be looking out for, what you need to be aware of and how you should be thinking if you are thinking of moving to Spain in 2013. There are opportunities everywhere but there are also traps the unwary can fall into.
Investment During a Downturn? It’s The Best Time
The article below was taken from issue four of the Spanish Property magazine. It’s this sort of analysis that you may be missing so if you have an iPad get over to iTunes and download the magazines. Well worth some of your time if you are interested in Spain and/or property.
As I said in the last magazine, most people buy in Spain for one of two reasons: lifestyle or investment. However the investment part you need to look at carefully. Many people bought for both lifestyle and investment and most of them crashed and burnt.
Spanish Property Magazine Issue 3 Out Now
Apple has approved the third issue of the Spanish Property Magazine and you can now go and pick up your copy after downloading the app from itunes.
In this issue we look at how to live on a rock in two ways. Firstly a rock in the Atlantic, or a collection of rocks known as the Canary Islands and secondly a Rock tagged onto the Iberian Peninsula, the Campo de Gibraltar. We also take a look at the new residency requirements in an extremely important article by Lisa Sadleir and have a study of how low the banks can go and what makes up the new “Bad Bank” in Spain
September Is Looking Busy In Valencia So Book Early
August has been quiet in Valencia Property land. Not too many clients through the doors which is unusual but September is looking very very busy at the moment. Therefore a little bit of advice and some dates to avoid. Firstly if you are coming over to visit and look at some properties make sure to give me plenty of time to organise your visits. Mail me and reserve your space. Also the 12th and 13th of September are probably out as it looks like I may be in Madrid on those dates.
It’s Live! The new Spanish Property Magazine for iPad
I have been working on this for a couple of months and finally it is live. It’s full of videos, properties, articles and suggestions for anybody thinking of buying Spanish Property and this month we have a Mijas and Valencia special. What is it? The all new all signing allContinue reading
Which Spanish Property Would You Buy?
There are seven clients visiting to buy Valencia Property in seven days at the moment. The strange thing is that three of them have chosen to see exactly the same houses. Therefore in order to give them the benefit of your experience, which of the following Spanish properties for sale would you choose and why? Remember they are different prices and differing styles but each one has its own things to recommend it. They all share one aspect though, a slightly raised position giving really nice views over the countryside for those days when you are sitting on your terrace sipping Sangria and luxuriating in the Spanish sun (or shade).
Property Price Negotiation and the Spanish Psyche
When you are negotiating the price and other aspects of a Spanish property purchase you need to understand the seller psychologically. If we are to assume that the seller is Spanish, as the majority of sellers are away from the Costas, then it is necessary to understand how their mind works.
In order to do this we need to realize what the Spanish mind thinks, obviously this is a broad generalization but by generalizing you can get an idea of what you need to understand in order to be successful in any property purchase.
Preparation and Hard Work. Living in Spain
If you are thinking of moving to Spain then this interview with me may interest you. However remember that if you are from Widnes, Aberdeen, France or Croydon I am sorry but “it is what it is”.
So what tips do we have in the video? Learn the language, plan your move to Spain, have the right mindset and immerse yourself in Spanish language and culture. Don’t worry about the crisis, it exists but it is to your advantage because everybody else is scared, you aren’t.
Another Which Spanish Property Would You Choose?
Last Saturday I took some clients out to see a lot of Spanish properties again. That’s what I do of course. This time the issue was the purchase of a Spanish Property in Valencia for a client moving to Spain to work at the Ford factory. (Don’t be surprised Ford have announced a huge new investment in the Valencia plant to build the new Ford Kuga (Or Cougar))
How To Navigate The New Houses For Sale In Spain
We have changed the look of houses for sale in Spain so I thought I best show you how to navigate the site and get around it. I missed one thing of course, don’t forget the Google+ button on the right hand side. Would love to know your feedback about the new site.
My Thoughts On The Spanish Property Roadshow
Spain is trying to ofload the estimated 700,000 empty, completed properties, mostly on the coast, by taking a roadshow around Europe starting this week in the UK. They are trumpeting the price falls which seems a strange way to promote it.
When a Carbuncle Rises From The Hillsides. A Spanish Ghost Estate
I have had the fortune to travel around the Valencian community quite a lot in the last few weeks and I have noticed some major differences since the last time I was able to do it.
I have been down to Javea a couple of times with excellent weather to accompany me. Because of this as I wasn’t in a hurry I took the CV332 rather than the toll motorway. I saw this carbuncle near to Favara.
The Valencia Property End Of Year Report
Well you got it first if you were on our Facebook page a couple of weeks back but now it is here for the rest of you who don’t use Facebook. The Valencia Property end of year report can be downloaded here.
