What Makes a Valencian Village (or Town)?

With the move towards townhouses and towns and villages outside the city, whether caused by the pandemic or otherwise, we have been asked many times what is it like to live in a Valencian village or town. Today therefore we thought we would take a look at the aspects that make up a Valencian town.

Civic pride is a big thing with Valencian towns and villages and any local council that doesn’t work on the physical aspects of a town, and even more importantly the fiestas, will have little chance of being re-elected when the next turn at the urns comes. There are many common themes that we can see in what makes a town so let’s look at them in turn.

Where Do The People With Ferraris Live?

It’s not my bag and it’s not my style but a question posed this week by a client moving to Valencia in January piqued my interest. They are looking to move to Valencia and wanted to be in an area that you could class as “High End” Valencia, the question was “Where do the people with Ferraris live?”. So today we are going to list the areas where the people with Ferraris live so you can either aim to join them or totally avoid them because your requirements involve much more than living in an area where people wouldn’t give people like me the time of day ;-). (I’m sure the potential client was joking but if it gives me material for a blog post then I’m good with that.)

Apartment, Villa or Townhouse?

For years we have been pushing the claims of townhouses as alternatives to villas or apartments for living in and around Valencia. Not many people have agreed with us as apartments, especially those in the city, and villas have continued to make up well over 90% of our sales to buyers of property in Valencia.

Could this be changing though?

We are starting to see an uptick of interest in townhouses, especially those with back patios and terraces, and we are also seeing a greater desire to be in one of the villages or towns around Valencia with easy access into the city.

November 2021 Valencia Property News

We are not quite there yet but next week is looking amazingly busy so it’s unlikely we will have time to put together this post then. Between sales, holidays, visits and more September and October have flown by and it’s time to look at what is happening in the Valencia Property market to keep you up to date.

Plenty of news in this edition of the blog including some very good news for sellers, (and potentially for buyers too), what is moving on the market, what agents on the ground are saying and some great Valencia Property deals.

How To Be Valencian – A Short Guide

We are often asked about living in Valencia, about how it’s different and about what you need to do to fit in. It’s a precursor to moving to Valencia for many people. They want to know what life is like here and how they can become a part of that “scene”. First thing it’s difficult. “Being Valencian” requires much more than just living in Valencia. It’s an attitude, a set of inherited traits and a socialisation in Valencian society.

Autumn 2021 in the Valencia Property Market

Last year I did this post about Autumn in the Valencia Property market in 2020. It was really well received and the video was well watched too. This year I’m not sure about putting the time into making a video in the same way but I may do in a few days, what does need repeating is the news about the Valencia Property market in Autumn/Fall 2021 and comparing the situation with last year. Things have changed and things have stayed the same. Read on for more information.

The Cost of Living in Valencia in 2021

One of the questions we are often asked is how much does it cost to live in Valencia? The answer to the cost of living in Valencia question is always the same, it depends. It depends on you what you do and how you live but generally the answer is always similar “Cheaper than where you are now!”.

However in this article we are going to look at some typical examples of what it might cost in terms of property costs, food, transport, entertainment and more so you get an idea of the day to day costs of living here compared with other places that you may be living in right now

Co-Housing and Communal Living in Spain

The concept of co-housing or communal living seems to be growing in popularity in Spain but it is a relatively new concept. As we mentioned in our article about “The Community” people in Spain have been living cheek by jowl and cooperating within their buildings for many years but the co-housing movement now takes the traditional community model and extends the concept somewhat.

Now though co-housing and communal living is becoming more and more popular in Spain due to various factors. However what we are beginning to see now are projects that are being developed specifically for communal living. Today we are going to look at what these concepts are and what they tend to offer.

The Race For Space in Valencia

No, this is not a blog about Bezos, Musk and Branson and their rather pathetic attempts to go into sub-orbit and call it space travel when their money could do so much more good by solving world hunger or trying to avoid climate change, this is about the flight towards more space in properties in Valencia which reflects the news coming out of other countries.

For those with the luxury of doing so, the pandemic has made us all think about the way we live. Less travel, zero commuting, larger spaces, an office room, fast internet, zoom calls, teleworking and a host of other previously marginal ideas have become mainstream. Of course this has been reflected in the property market in Valencia and Spain as a whole.

How Valencia Is Changing Its Look.

For those of you who might have been away or not able to get to Valencia recently you may not have seen the changes that have happened recently. Projects such as the increasing number of bike lanes, the pedestrianisation of the town hall square, the new building projects on the edge of the city, the revamped Plaza Redonda and even the roof on the Levante football stadium… things are changing.

Why Valencia Won’t Leave You In The Dark

The clocks have gone back and while much of Northern Europe looks bleakly at dark early evenings, cold weather and four to five months of greyness, Valencia continues to revel in warm autumnal days with plenty of light until late and a less depressed atmosphere. If you are looking to buy a Valencia Property then you can enjoy this light from one of our properties, see below.
