We went on a listing frenzy last week as, while researching the articles about what your money buys you at various price points, I realised that we didn't have much on the shelves at various price points. A missive was sent out to the team, "we need to get more listings on the site". However, as we have mentioned many times before on this page, we don't list everything. In fact I wrote about the reasons why on our substack recently and as I am moving away from publications elsewhere and wanting to concentrate much more on our homeground, here on the blog, I thought it was time to bring over something from there to here to give the explanation of what is happening.

Valencia's lifestyle is one of the main reasons people move here, but "great weather and good food" only gets you so far in the first few months. Then things might get harder and that harder part is building a lasting and repetitive social life from those initial small acorns. It takes effort, a lot more effort. The following activities are all structured enough to give you a recurring reason to show up, and most of them double as a way to meet people, practise your Spanish and set up further contacts to grow into the city and into your friendship groups. Now of course everything depends on your gregariousness, your interests and your desire to get a social life and groups but if you want to here are some suggestions built around activities in order to get you going.

We often get asked by people about how you can get to know people in a new city after moving here. We get asked this by all ages and by people in different relationships and also by those coming here alone. In fact it was one of the questions asked last week in our Q+A too by quite a lot of people. So it was a nice surprise when I got a request for a guest post on the site by Tom Norman who has set up a meetup group in Valencia for introverts*. As a natural introvert myself who often feels overwhelmed in group settings it felt a natural fit for the blog. So here we are. Take it away Tom.

Of course we have written about this topic previously because it's a question we always get asked by potential sellers, but all advice needs to be brought up to date. Never has a single act, in this case literally an act, made clear that our decision to take time off at Fallas each year is correct. This week ex-Smiths frontman, noted racist, serial flouncer, Ukipper and primadonna, Morrissey, gave everyone who resents him for what he has become (as opposed to what he once represented) a long period of generalised laughter as he used the Fallas fiestas in Valencia as the excuse to cancel the latest in a long list of his cancelled performances, this time in Valencia.

We have written on these pages before about Valencia's Districts and we consistently point people towards those articles when they are looking to investigate the areas with a view to moving to Valencia as it's best to know what to expect in each area. As a city Valencia is just about the perfect size for modern living, not too big but large enough to have plenty going on all year round. As we have talked about before in these pages you are never far away from the centre in Valencia, in fact you are generally near to the centre in most of the 19 districts. However, for those reading this from abroad your knowledge of the city might not be that of a local so it's a good time to introduce you to the 19 districts in Valencia and you will also see that names you often see don't appear. There's so much to write about this week that it's difficult to know where to start. Should we go with the weather and the hottest ever temperature in Valencia? New listings? ... There's so much. But first it's still holiday time isn't it...?

Happy New Year from Valencia Property. 2026 is here and the blog is back after a week off for the holidays. The truth is it's still holiday time in Valencia and Spain as the Kings arrive today which is when the Spanish traditionally get Xmas presents and tomorrow is Epiphany which is the last day we can really justify saying it's holiday for a while (Not too long to wait though) As a New Year has arrived we thought that it was time to reaffirm the reasons why you might want to move your life to Valencia this year. Things can get lost in the constant day to day hellscape that is "The News" and that idiot (And as usual you don't need me to tell you who "That Idiot" is) So it's good to have a goal of moving to somewhere a bit sunnier, with a bit more space and most importantly a place where just a little more sanity prevails.

Welcome to the last main blog post of the year. Next week there may be a post but as we are on holiday there may not be. Today we are going to look back on the last year in Valencia Property and look forward to what you can expect in Valencia's housing market in 2026. We are not going to say these are predictions for 2026 exactly but this is what we are seeing looking at the current situation and what has happened in 2025. So let's go.

It was around this date in 2019 that news stories started filtering through showing weird happenings in Wuhan. People in apartments that were being bricked up to stop them leaving, hazmat suits, corridors of hospitals overflowing with people struggling to breath and more. It was the start of the Covid pandemic and it changed... well... everything. Today we are going to look at what happened here in Valencia. What Covid meant for the property market, society and in other ways. Because if you're looking at living in or buying or renting in Valencia, or anywhere in Spain and possibly everywhere worldwide, the market you're stepping into today looks very different from the one that existed in early 2020. Not just different in prices (though yes, those have gone up), but fundamentally different in how people buy, what they're looking for, and how the whole process works.

Sometimes we get enquiries from people who know they want to live in Valencia and then tell us they are looking at Alicante too. It's an obvious mistake to make as Alicante is a part of the Valencian community but is not Valencia… it's Alicante. Equally this is true to the North of Valencia with Castellón, it's a part of the Valencian Community too but it's also a province in its own right. The thing that most people don't get is that if you haven't made that decision beforehand then you haven't done much research because you are comparing chalk with cheese when you compare Valencia and Alicante in general or indeed Valencia and Castellón.
