The Law Of The Stupid. NIE Numbers in Spain

There are a lot of unsold houses for sale in Spain. You would think that the government would be trying to encourage sales to foreigners in every way they can in order to buy this surplus and maintain investment in Spain at higher levels than would otherwise be the case. You would be wrong. Spain has just introduced a change to the way that people apply for and get the NIE tax numbers which directly affects all foreigners coming into the country, wanting to invest here in the majority of cases.

What About the Pound Versus The Euro?

If you are living in the UK and earning pounds now is the best time to buy in Spain since October 2008. It was then that the UK government at the time effectively devalued the currency and overnight (Well in a period of a month) the pound went from €1.50 to €1.06. This made property in Spain immediately more expensive at a time when prices were still really high having reached their peak in 2007.

Two Years In Valencia in Ten Minutes

I take a lot of photos, photos of houses, family photos, photos around Spain stuff I snap on the iphone as I move around and a whole lot more. Recently I bought myself a new Macbook Pro and as I use a lot of images I had to import some photos. It turns out there were 18247 in the iphoto library. 18247 is a lot of photos. And when I saw how iphoto imported them I thought I would screenflow it.

The New Kindle Fire, Sponsoring a Child and a Good Meal Out

In 2011 we gave an iPad away to all people who bought a property from Valencia Property, except to those who already had one. Next year we have decided to change the offer. In view of the fact that Valencia now has its own Apple Store (On the corner of Calle Colón and Calle Lauria in the centre in case you didn't know) you can now get there to get your own iPad and enjoy the experience of buying and using it. This year the change of offer involves three things.

Areas To Live In Valencia: The Carmen

Valencia is often described as a city made up of a lot of villages. The truth is that is what it really is. Each area has its own centre and many of them have their own history that makes it unique. So in the first of this occasional series I am going to tell you about The Carmen area in Valencia. Historically the Carmen is the old medieval centre of Valencia.

The Real Niche In Valencia: Attic Flats

The Real Niche In Valencia: Attic Flats

One of the niche markets in the whole Spanish property market that still holds its value well and actually does very well on sale are attics in the big cities. An attic flat doesn't necessarily mean that it has sloping ceilings in Spain it just means it has a terrace, usually private. This is the holy grail for city livers in Spain and therefore the demand is always high which means prices maintain themselves.

A Few Bargain Valencia Properties Down in Price

Here are a few Valencia Properties for sale that have been reduced in price recently. There are reasons why these are especially good value. But you will need to ask me why. Anyway the first property in Villamarchante has been reduced to 158000 Euros for a very quick sale. We have had it for sale at a higher price for some time but there was an issue with the electricity company having taken out the meter.

Spanish December Holidays, The Weather and Sunshine

We have just had a very quiet week in a few ways although you may have noticed no new posts on the site because I was still very busy. The reason that it was quiet is that the two fiestas in December this week fell on Tuesday and Thursday. Now I have explained before on these pages about the Spanish tradition of having a bridge day when holidays fall like this but this week was a difficult one.

Property For Sale in Iznajar, Córdoba

Now you are able to find out more about property all around Spain through our new sites and agreements in place I thought it was time to actually point out some amazing bargains in other parts of Spain apart from Valencia. Today we are concentrating on Iznajar in the Cordoba area of Andalucia. If you are looking for the Real Spain then you could do a lot worse than the quiet inland town of Iznajar. Set around the beautiful Lake Iznajar property in the area has been compared to that in the Alpujrras made famous by the writing of Gerald Brennan. Quiet and yet just an hour away from the Costa del Sol, Iznajar has many attractions for you as a visitor or resident and that is the point of the main property for sale we have here

And The Banks Wonder Why People Hate Them

And The Banks Wonder Why People Hate Them

The Spanish property purchase is not overcomplicated but there are a couple of things that can get complicated at times. For example when you're buying a property you buy it with clear title. What does that mean? Well, it means that the property has no debts on it when it is sold. This of course means clearing the old mortgage. So the process is as follows. You get in touch with the bank a couple of weeks before the property purchase and you say;

Stop Press: Hugely Discounted Property in Murcia.

I have just received this in my inbox and find the original prices rather unbelievable but the new prices for quick completion at 100% mortgage too if required very tempting. A great offer for holiday home seekers, people looking to move to Spain permanently and for investors. We have been asked by a local bank in Murcia to sell the remaining properties on these 4 developments as soon as possible. There is potential mortgage financing subject to status up to 100% on both sites and clients are urged to act quickly. Read on for full details and act fast if you are interested.

Buying a House or Buying a Company in Spain.

Buying a House or Buying a Company in Spain.

Sometimes you get offered the chance to buy a company as opposed to a house. This is often the case in Portugal where houses are bought as company assets and therefore you get a chance to buy a company and paying a lot less tax. However in Spain this situation is slightly different. Before buying a business in Spain there are many factors you need to look into.

Property Price Negotiation and the Spanish Psyche

Property Price Negotiation and the Spanish Psyche

When you are negotiating the price and other aspects of a Spanish property purchase you need to understand the seller psychologically. If we are to assume that the seller is Spanish, as the majority of sellers are away from the Costas, then it is necessary to understand how their mind works. In order to do this we need to realize what the Spanish mind thinks, obviously this is a broad generalization but by generalizing you can get an idea of what you need to understand in order to be successful in any property purchase.

The Seven Levers of Negotiation on Spanish Property Purchase

If you are going to buy a Spanish property then you first need to identify a place you want to buy. Up to there everything is clear. However when coming to an agreement with the seller there are seven levers in the negotiation process, a couple of them peculiar to Spain alone.
