You Might Have Missed This, Spain is Different 6
If you are not following me on Twitter @grahunt, following the Facebook page for Valencia Property, or on one of my lists, you can sign up for getting the Spain is Different magazine on this page, then you may have missed issue six of Spain is Different. Take a look at the latest issue with stories about the World's first foldable electric car (Made in Spain), all about visiting a world of silence and darkness at the caves in Castellón, a guest post about why you should get a survey done on a property in Spain, skiing in the Pyrenees, one town coping with a huge wodge of cash coming in thanks to the lottery (Apart from one guy), barlife in Granada, a hint of corruption, the story of a Facebook page with 72000 people on it disappearing and more including me really annoying a Flamenco dancer by suggesting that Flamenco does not equal Spain.
Another Great Attic Flat In Valencia For Sale
Attics are my personal preference for living in a city in Spain. Luckily for me they are also the preference of my clients looking to buy in the City of Valencia in large part because what people are looking for when they are looking for a flat for sale in Valencia or any other Spanish city is outside space to complement the evident advantages of living on top of everything, the lack of need to have a car, having everything to hand when you need your milk and bread and the ability to get anywhere in the city within a short bus or metro ride.
Getting to Know Lliria
Lliria town hall has just put out a new video promoting the town. They have missed a little trick by not having a subtitled version to attract expats but it gives a good vision of the town and you should take a look just to se the Roman ruins, the old fort, the museums and traditions of the town. 22 minutes in Spanish so get a coffee and sit back.
Spain is Different For The Fifth Time
I have released the latest issue of the Spain is Different Magazine to subscribers. Two problems came up. It was due to go out last night but I timed it wrong and that is a good job too because, secondly, I put the wrong link in too! So rather than reading about another way to make a tortilla, the vintage train in Mallorca, Mourinho and Madrid and a match made in hell, money saving tips from Maxine Raynor, short snippets of Spanish oddities, economic news, and an editorial about the battle for the soul of Spain people were reading about an attic flat in Valencia! Mea culpa.
Huge Discount on Property in Campoamor, Alicante For Sale
Before starting I have to say this is not my style. However this is the ideal holiday home and place to rent out for many people being near the beach and the local golf course and having all facilities to hand. This villa for sale in Campoamor has been educed from €150,000 to €95,000 in January. This very well presented 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom detached villa is situated very close to Campoamor golf course and is only a few minutes drive to the beach. The property is located on a corner plot and comprises of a covered entrance porch, large lounge/diner, kitchen, double bedroom and a cloakroom on the ground level. Upstairs there is a family bathroom and two double bedrooms, the master having a large balcony.
Are You Owed Some Money In Spain?
I was reminded this week about the potential for anyone already living in Spain or who has sold a property in Spain to be owed some money by officialdom. I got a call from a gestor about one of my clients from three years ago. Could I come in and pick up the excess money from the provision of funds made when she sold the property in ... 2009! I misheard the amount on the phone. I thought they had told me 50 euros. When I arrived at the gestoria I was given a cheque in the name of my client for 950 euros.
An Apology and a New Magazine in Dropbox
Today the site has been down for quite a long time. This was triggered because o the overwhelming response to the new Spain is Different magazine tat was sent out to a few lists and partners yesterday night. So many people were downloading it from the site today that eventually my hosting company took the site down thinking that something was wrong.
Who Is Buying Property in Spain at the Moment?
I just thought you might like to know who is buying property in Spain at the moment. The reason I wanted to do this is that I placed a comment in an article on the Daily Telegraph about Ireland. Everyone started having a downer on Spain and the other, so called PIIGS, so I thought I would defend the country a little by stating facts rather than opinions from internet warriors probably still living in their mum's houses. ;-)
The Law Of The Stupid. NIE Numbers in Spain
There are a lot of unsold houses for sale in Spain. You would think that the government would be trying to encourage sales to foreigners in every way they can in order to buy this surplus and maintain investment in Spain at higher levels than would otherwise be the case. You would be wrong. Spain has just introduced a change to the way that people apply for and get the NIE tax numbers which directly affects all foreigners coming into the country, wanting to invest here in the majority of cases.
Spain Is Different Issue 3. You Are Going To Like This
The latest issue of Spain is Different Magazine is now out. Including stories about a 24 metre statue of a Megalomaniac standing outside an airport with no planes, how the USA bullied Spain into it's new internet law, lots of only in Spain stories, 5 Spanish Start up companies that may do really well this year and our latest editorial about how you can help Spain become more dynamic.
What About the Pound Versus The Euro?
If you are living in the UK and earning pounds now is the best time to buy in Spain since October 2008. It was then that the UK government at the time effectively devalued the currency and overnight (Well in a period of a month) the pound went from €1.50 to €1.06. This made property in Spain immediately more expensive at a time when prices were still really high having reached their peak in 2007.
Two Years In Valencia in Ten Minutes
I take a lot of photos, photos of houses, family photos, photos around Spain stuff I snap on the iphone as I move around and a whole lot more. Recently I bought myself a new Macbook Pro and as I use a lot of images I had to import some photos. It turns out there were 18247 in the iphoto library. 18247 is a lot of photos. And when I saw how iphoto imported them I thought I would screenflow it.

The New Kindle Fire, Sponsoring a Child and a Good Meal Out
In 2011 we gave an iPad away to all people who bought a property from Valencia Property, except to those who already had one. Next year we have decided to change the offer. In view of the fact that Valencia now has its own Apple Store (On the corner of Calle Colón and Calle Lauria in the centre in case you didn't know) you can now get there to get your own iPad and enjoy the experience of buying and using it. This year the change of offer involves three things.
Areas To Live In Valencia: The Carmen
Valencia is often described as a city made up of a lot of villages. The truth is that is what it really is. Each area has its own centre and many of them have their own history that makes it unique. So in the first of this occasional series I am going to tell you about The Carmen area in Valencia. Historically the Carmen is the old medieval centre of Valencia.
The Real Niche In Valencia: Attic Flats
One of the niche markets in the whole Spanish property market that still holds its value well and actually does very well on sale are attics in the big cities. An attic flat doesn't necessarily mean that it has sloping ceilings in Spain it just means it has a terrace, usually private. This is the holy grail for city livers in Spain and therefore the demand is always high which means prices maintain themselves.
