There are certain things in life that are certain.- One of them is that wherever I go in life the place that I call home will follow me. Years ago Valencia wouldn't have been a blip on my radar but now wherever I go I find Valencia all around me. We go to Little Chef for breakfast, I know I know, but it was right next door to the hotel and what do we find, Valencia orange juice for breakfast. Now I know this is no great shakes in the grand scheme of things but until the last decade you can guarantee this wouldn't have happened. It is the same as recently all we have seen on the road has been the Kia Carnival because we recently got one. Until something is in your Universe you don't notice it at all.

I am in the UK over Easter and writing this from there as I listen to the pitter patter of incessant rain on the roof. It is a relaxing sound so don't worry about that of course. Easter in Spain is when things start to warm up of course and not before time if you have lived through the longest winter in Spain in living memory. The dams are full of water. It has rained and even snowed loads during the winter and the heating bill on electric made me long to move closer to the equator.

A friend of mine has a spiffing new camera and he used it to take some great photos during Fallas. I thought I would put them up on here so you get an idea of what great photos can look like taken with a decent camera. ie not mine ;-) So thanks for these Wayne and one day I will get a decent camera too and you can teach me how to use it.

Last week I put up a Spanish bank repossession property on the Valencia Property site in Lliria. Have a look here. Anyway the point is that I had someone go and see it as they were looking for Houses for sale in Spain that needed modernising and they thought they would have a think about it. I also had somebody flying out to see it next Friday. Unfortunately it is now sold. The bank accepted an offer of 95000 Euros on it when their asking price was 124000 Euros

I don't know whether it was just me or whether Fallas was rather muted in comparison to other years this year. The monuments seemed a little smaller and the chaos of the war zone a little quieter. However the city was still buzzing with so many people around that it was virtually impossible to move around. The weather was kindish until the last day when it became overcast and hotels in Valencia are reporting occupation around the 100% mark so they are quite happy.

As I said the other day Valencia is in Fallas. What does that mean? Well just about everything stops. And next week I stop for a time. If I cannot keep up with you next week then sorry but I am a tad busy, five clients coming over, a signing of a property, six projects to be updated and quite a bit more. I might find some time to pack.

Fallas is here. Those words mean a lot of things in Valencia. Fallas means the start of spring, it means the ending of the cold period that is the short winter here, it means huge models in the street and roads closed all over the place for the huge models to be placed on street corners all around and it means that, this year at least, the children get a whole week off school, just before another two weeks off school for Easter. (Last year the two ran into each other)

The vast majority of properties on the Valencia Property website have always been key ready and usually pre-owned properties. We didn't get into the false gold rush that was the off plan property market and therefore we are probably a lot poorer for it.

I sent the offer at the attached link to my mailing list and followers on Twitter yesterday but today the whole World gets to look at it and pick over the bones. Oops!! Sometimes I forget things just like anyone else. Well I made a newsletter a couple of weeks ago and sent it out to all of my subscribers but then totally forgot to send it out to everyone else on the blog (Do you see how it pays to be a subscriber to our newsletter? sign up at the top of the page)

We have talked on these pages before about education in Spain and what to look out for so that the kids feel at home. What we haven't talked about is how to integrate the kids into the local community in the best way. Believe it or not this is easy because kids in general are so garroulous and adaptable they will fit in anywhere. However Spain has made it easier for kids to fit in by having loads of places they can go and do stuff.

When you buy a house for sale in Spain you often get yourself some quite unique issues, some would say problems. One of those specific issues is the electricity thing. What is the electricity thing? Well you often get electric shocks in Spanish houses and flats. Small ones and sometimes a bit bigger ones that can make your hair stand up like Tom just after Jerry has plugged his tail into the mains.

Again this morning I took out a client to see a house and took extra umbrellas with me. Why, well again it was raining. Now this winter has been the wettest I can remember in Spain and it just seems that it goes on and on. Eventually the sun came out this afternoon and suddenly the temperature was at least ten degrees warmer and a whole new feeling came over the properties we were seeing. (It is evening now and yet again it is raining with another huge storm looking to engulf the country on Friday and Saturday)

Today is the last day of relative quiet in Valencia for the next twenty days. The Mascleta´s in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento start tomorrow heralding the start of Fallas (Official dates 15th - 19th of March) but actually starting now. It also heralds the start of spring and after the winter we have had with a perfect storm heading into North Western Spain about time too.
