One of the things that you learn when you have lived in Spain for a time is that things are not what they seem in many cases. This may well be why "Spain is Different" still holds true. What on the surface can seem a totally normal thing has millions of tentacles and subplots underneath. Today's question is what are the banks doing? Now Spanish banks look safe and have not had the huge upheavals of the States or The UK. However there is something going on and I would like to make a few suppositions here as everybody loves a good conspiracy theory.

The market is cranking up for people moving to Spain. Sterling has started rising and this has piqued the interest of those who were waiting to come to Spain. Enquiries are up, visits are up and prices are steadying.

Well I was going to ask for a vote but I am a dictatorship so Houses For Sale in Spain's first giveaway on the most excellent comments is a no brainer. We had plenty of comments about the nice new look and more but the winning comment without doubt came from Christopher Nation with this insightful effort. (And no he hadn't been drinking, at least I don't think he had)

OK I know it is slightly early but I wanted to get this out today for a friend of mine on Twitter who needs a few podcasts for his car this week as he is travelling around.

I went out to Valencia's central market this morning taking the family. Today I felt naked! I didn't have a camera. I have never seen so many 35mm SLR devices in one area in my life. There were at least eight different classes on photography going on and getting out of the way of the long lenses was rather difficult.

The Americas Cup will take place next month in Valencia. The 32nd was a great event that changed the face of the City at least temporarily. This is just a damp squib. Obviously there are lots of places to go snowboarding in Spain. The ski stations in Spain are high and currently absolutely replete with snow. You can go South to Granada and the Sierra Nevada, head inland from Valencia to teruel, check out the Picos de Europa or go to the more obvious Pyrenees along the boarder with France. However this post has nothing to do with skiing, snowboarding or anything else done on the white stuff, not even making snowmen.
